August 26 - 31, 2018

The Dioxin Symposium and International PCB Workshop are recognized as the leading international POPs meetings for scientists and regulators. The main goal of the DIOXIN 2018 Symposium is to offer both scientists and engineers in academies and industries an opportunity to express and discuss their views on current trends, challenges and solutions to various problems in the fields of environmental protection in the broader sense, especially halogenated persistent organic pollutants characteristic including modern interdisciplinary applications of new technologies.

Dioxin2017, Vancouver, Canada

August 20 - 25, 2017

The 37th edition of the Dioxin Symposia in Vancouver, Canada BC. The annual International Dioxin Symposium provides a forum for presentations of cutting-edge scientific research on POPs across all disciplines, including analytical and environmental chemistry, molecular biology, human health, risk assessment, and risk management.

The Eighth World Conference on Sampling and Blending, Perth, Australia

9-11 May, 2017

Thank-you to everyone who made the Eighth World Conference on Sampling and Blending such a wonderful success.

On behalf of the organising committee we thank you for your attendance and participation at the event. We have received very positive feedback and would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors, exhibitors, authors and presenters for ensuring the standard of the event delivered was to the highest degree.

Meetings of the conferences of the parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions

Geneva, Switzerland from 24 April to 05 May 2017

ToxicoWatch joins as IPEN-member to the COPs2017, negotiating with delegates for more protective measures people health. The meetings, attended by about 1,400 participants, as well as well as 80 Ministers, from 170 countries, adopted more than 60 separate decisions, including six identical ones for the three meetings on: International cooperation and coordination, enhancing cooperation and coordination among the three conventions, clearing-house mechanism for information exchange, mainstreaming gender, synergies in preventing and combating illegal traffic and trade in hazardous chemicals and wastes, and “from science to action”.

Dioxin2016 Firenze, 36th International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants

Aug 28 - Sept 2

Dioxin 2016 will be held on the 40th Anniversary of the “Seveso” accident (July 10th, 1976) which so heavily spread anger and risks on a civil population and determined, for the first time ever in the world,  a deep revision of relationships between humans, industry and environment. It has been said that there is a “before Seveso and after Seveso” perception of risks and promulgation of laws committed to better respect “Nature”. Very recently, in Paris, the whole  world agreed to increase this commitment.

INEF2016, International network of environmental forensics, Örebro, Sweden

June 27-30, 2016

Abel Arkenbout, CEO of the Toxicowatch Foundation gives the presentation in the Conference venue of the medieval castle in Örebro, Sweden

SETAC Europe 26th Annual Meeting in Nantes, France

22-26 May, 2016

Contaminants of Emerging Concern in the Environment and their Management

A. Arkenbout, Toxicowatch Foundation.

In the region of Harlingen, situated in the north of the Netherlands, people are becoming very concerned about adverse health effects related to the possible emission of dioxins and other POPs by a waste incinerator installed in 2011. A monitoring programme using backyard chicken eggs, shows a serious pollution with dioxins and dl- PCBs in the environment of Harlingen harbour. In order to find the source of this pollution, the preliminary results of analysis of a long- term sampling of the flue gas of the incinerator will be discussed in relation to the congeners found in the backyard chicken eggs.

Dioxin2015, 35th International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants

23 to 28 August 2015 in São Paulo, Brazil

The Symposium is a traditional one, and it is being organized annually since 1980, except in 1983. It is a scientific event with main focus on toxic and persistent halogenated organic compounds (POPs) with a broad range of themes.

Topics will address a full range of global POPs research right across the source-pathway-exposure-effects-solutions continuum. You will keep in touch with recent trends on POPs in the environment, and new POPs will be addressed, according to spanned POPs by Stockholm Convention, like brominated flame retardants, perfluorinated chemicals, and emerging contaminants. Indoor pollution caused by POPs, urban contamination issues, and POPs in the Developing World will be also discussed; toxicity to human and to animals, levels and trends in the environment, epidemiology, exposure assessment, as well as regulation, risk assessment and management, analytical methods for measurements on sources and in the environment, source inventory, policy, and control measures. Newest analytical methods and equipment, source sampling and monitoring methods, will be exposed and discussed.

SETAC Europe 25th Annual Meeting

3 to 7 May 2015 in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain

The innovative use of chemicals and nanomaterials in new technologies, industry and agriculture challenges many aspects of the ecosystem functioning of the global environment. However, these new technologies and materials also offer opportunities to remediate or minimise these anthropogenic insults. Finding innovative solutions to environmental problems is ever more important in the current economic scenario. For SETAC, this is a challenge we relish. This international conference brings together experts from government, industry, consultancy and academia to meet this challenge. The conference will focus on the most recent advances in environmental sciences and will provide platforms for implementing this knowledge, for improving the protection of our environment and to shape policies from current viewpoints to future needs.

34th International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants (Dioxin 2014)

August 31 - September 5, 2014 in Madrid, Spain

Dioxin 2014 will continue in the tradition of precedent Symposium Series as the leading international conference for scientists and regulators to present recent advances in all areas of halogenated persistent organic pollutants. The Symposium will offer a high quality scientific programme combining both traditional topics and emerging issues. The scientific programme will be completed by special satellite events and by exhibitors presenting latest equipment and services in the field of Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants. And, of course an exciting social programme is awaiting all delegates. We are sure that Dioxin 2014 will provide great opportunities for all the delegates from all over the world to exchange new ideas face to face and to establish future collaboration.
